DOOR CASING

Door Casing is used to form a decorative frame around the door. Casing also helps conceal the uneven edges of the wall and sheetrock. Casing is applied after installation of the door is complete and is done on both sides. See Figure 2 below for illustration.

Clear: Refers to moulding that is made from one solid piece of wood. This moulding is more exspensive, but is ideal if you are going to stain the trim.

Finger-Joint: Refers to moulding that is joined together from small pieces. This type of moulding is primed white for painting and is less exspensive than clear pine. If you are going to paint your mouldings this is the one you want to use.
